About the Logo for the Kyoto GIAHS/J-NIAHS

The Council for the Promotion of the Kyoto Region as a GIAHS Site has created a logo depicting the Fruit Farming System in the Kyoto Region in order to publicize and raise awareness of the system as an important agricultural heritage system and promote efforts to pass on the Kyoto region’s fruit farming tradition to future generations.

Please note that use of the logo is subject to application to the Council for the Promotion of the Kyoto Region as a GIAHS Site.

Design Concept

The logo expresses the array of fruit trees grown in the Kyoto region, including peaches, grapes, plums, cherries, and persimmons, and incorporates wine as a symbol of the region’s processed fruit products. To the left and right, a grape vine and peach blossoms are included to represent the unique, traditional fruit farming practices of the Kyoto region.

The background features beautiful scenery seen from the Kyoto region, including a field on the alluvial fan and mountains in the distance, to express the diversity of the region beyond agriculture, in terms of its natural environment and tourism resources.

Use of the Logo

In addition to dissemination of information by the Council for the Promotion of the Kyoto Region as a GIAHS Site, the logo can be used in pamphlets, posters, business cards, and other media that contribute to publicization, maintenance, and preservation of the Fruit Farming System in the Kyoto Region.

However, please note that use of the logo is subject to application and approval from the Council for the Promotion of the Kyoto Region as a GIAHS Site.

(1) Scope of use

The logo may be used in conjunction with fruit produced in the Kyoto region of Yamanashi Prefecture, as well as processed fruit products fully derived from that fruit, where its use is deemed to contribute to the promotion of the Fruit Farming System in the Kyoto Region, including in signs, billboards, posters, pamphlets, flyers, banners, websites, postcards, calendars, stickers, and business cards that contribute to dissemination, maintenance, and/or preservation of the system.
